Put Drops 10 as CHAN Preps Intensify

Uganda Cranes head coach Paul Put has reduced his initial 38-man provisional squad to 28 players as preparations for the 2024 TotalEnergies African Nations Championship (CHAN) intensify.

Midfielders Ibrahim Tembo, Ivan Ahimbisibwe, Moses Aliro, and Walter Ochora; Isima Magala and Brian Ijara have been excluded from the CHAN-bound roster.

Striker Sadat Anaku and winger Milton Karisa were sidelined after sustaining injuries, while Denis Omedi and Hakim Kiwanuka joined APR FC of Rwanda, which automatically ruled them out as the tournament is meant for locally based players.

Following three days of non-residential training sessions, the selected players will enter residential training at Cranes Paradise Hotel, Kisasi, which will commence on Monday.

The team continues to gear up for the African Nations tournament, set to take place in Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania from 1st to 28th February 2025.

The draw event to determine the group stage fixtures will be conducted on Wednesday, 15th January 2025, in Nairobi, Kenya.
