The tense standoff disrupted the gathering as Kaziimba stepped on the podium to speak.
Sections of the congregation turned rowdy demanding that the Archbishop leave.
Unlike Catholic Church leaders that have been praised by a section of Ugandans opposing the ruling NRM government, Archbishop Kaziimba has been called names for not speaking against jailed opposition supporters and leaders and the controversial Protection of Sovereignty Bill which is before Parliament.
Recently, Kaziimba said that he too is human, has a life to live, and therefore cannot risk his life involving himself in risky political conversations.
“I am a person; I need life also. I have life to live. I am not a savior to carry your problems. You take them to the cross. I do my part; I leave them to God. I am not here to save you,” he added.
”I choose and follow what God needs me to say. And not everything is said publicly. I discovered the power of Nathan approach than the power of John the Baptist approach,” he emphasized.
”You can speak and speak and speak, no impact. John the Baptist did a good job and lost his head, and the mission ended there. Nathan did a good job and ended saving someone’s life. Not every time that we use one approach.”
Speaking about the late former Archbishop, Janani who was murdered, Kaziimba said he would not make any impact if he was killed.
“Don’t I have a family?” he asked.
His remarks caused public debate with many accusing him of not being brave enough to speak about issues affecting Ugandans.
