Equity Bank Expands ‘Abakyala Ku Ntiiko’ Initiative to Masaka

Equity Bank has extended its ‘Abakyala Ku Ntiiko’ initiative to Masaka, aiming to bolster support for women engaged in micro-businesses.
The program’s second edition featured a panel discussion where women from diverse sectors shared strategies on balancing professional and personal responsibilities.
Participants highlighted challenges in managing business, career, and family obligations.
Panelists provided practical advice on self-care, home management, and financial discipline, emphasizing the significance of conducting thorough background checks before hiring staff to ensure trust and efficiency.
They also underscored the importance of maintaining proper financial records, practicing accountability, and fostering a saving culture as foundational elements for sustainable business growth.
Dr. Olive Nabirye, a businesswoman and employee of the National Water and Sewerage Corporation in Masaka, advised, “You have to know the people you hire as staff because they can either fail or lift your business. Create a mutual professional relationship with your staff, get to know what they go through or want, and this will make it easy for you to achieve your business goals.”
Mrs. Kellen Nampurira, CEO of Zebra Hotel, shared her journey from working in a bakery to owning one of the largest hotels in Masaka District, urging women to practice patience and consistency in business.
DPC Kimanya Kabonera, Jessica Naawe, encouraged women to form savings groups, stating, “Get into groups and save, because if you are doing something, business or working, not begging, life is easy.”
