RUBAGA: Gas Cylinder Explodes, Kills 2 in Kampala
The police at Katwe have, on Thursday, October 17, 2024, responded to a tragic incident involving a suspected negligence act that led to the deaths of two individuals. The incident occurred at approximately 9:50 a.m. at Sembule A, Kabowa Parish, Rubaga Division, Kampala District.
Kampala Metropolitan Police Deputy Spokesman Luke Owoyesigyire confirmed the incident.
Preliminary reports indicate that Andrajt Baraya, an Indian national, and Amos, a Ugandan national, were operating an oxygen plant during their day shift when a gas cylinder exploded, resulting in their immediate deaths.
According to Owoyesigyire, the “police, together with experts, are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the explosion and working to determine its cause.”
He added, “We will provide further updates as the investigation progresses.”
“We express our deepest condolences to the families of the deceased and assure the public that a thorough investigation is underway to establish the facts surrounding this unfortunate event.”
